Sustainable Mobility

The way we travel is making us a less healthy European Union.

The promotion of more sustainable transport systems is essential for better health and also our well-being. Transport systems dependent on the car, lorry and plane do not lead to better health. Not only do they produce pollution (air and noise) that adversely effects our health but they also mean less exercise and more accidents.

It is essential therefore, to promote more sustainable means of transport for example walking, cycling and the use of public transport. For example more cycling systems leads to: a critical mass, greater awareness and less accidents; improved air quality; reduced noise; increased play and activities for children; better health (less obesity); less man made contribution to climate change and also inclusion of the socially excluded people.
